The end of the ’80s and ’90s saw the debuts of Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble and Javagal Srinath, who are considered to be among the greatest Indian players and brought much glory for the country with their stellar contributions.

In the 2000s, a new breed of cricketers took center-stage in the form of MS Dhoni, Yuvraj Singh, Zaheer Khan, Harbhajan Singh, etc. Winning the inaugural World Twenty20 in 2007 was a special moment in India’s cricketing history. But the biggest moment of glory came on 2nd April 2011 when India beat Sri Lanka in the final of the 2011 Cricket World Cup in Mumbai and went on to become world champions. Under Dhoni’s captaincy, an Indian team made history after 28 long years.

Indian Cricket Team have generally done well in the ICC events, reaching a number of finals and semifinals since 2007. In the longer format of the game, India’s performance has been excellent, especially at home. They are the runners-up of the 2019 Test Championship.

The infrastructure of the Indian national cricket team has improved by leaps and bounds in the last decade or so.
