IPL 2022 Playoff Scenario: PBKS keep hopes alive, GT & LSG on verge of Qualification: Check Where others stand?
Gujarat Titans (1st, 16 Points): Hardik Pandya & Co lost their match to Punjab Kings on Tuesday. But despite that, they remain top of the table with 16 points from 19 games having won 8 out 10. Titans have all but confirmed their playoff spot and a win will secure them the spot. But they will target a Top-two finish to take the advantage of featuring in Qualifier 1.
- GT have all but confirmed their place in the playoffs with 8 wins.
- They will now aim for a top-two finish in the league
- GT’s remaining matches: MI, LSG, CSK, RCB
Rajasthan Royals (3rd, 12 Points): Sanju Samson’s RR side remains one of the favourites to qualify for the playoffs despite their back to back losses to strugglers Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders. Rajasthan only need two more wins to guarantee a place in the playoffs with four games left in the tournament.
- RR need to win at least two in four remaining matches to seal their deal.
- The losses have taken a toll on their NRR, but it still remains on the positive side, although inferior to LSG, SRH and DC.
- RR Remaining Matches: PBKS, DC, LSG, CSK
Sunrisers Hyderabad (4th, 10 Points): Despite their 13-run loss to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, Sunrisers Hyderabad remained in hunt for a playoff spot. However, they will now have to win at least four out of five remaining matches.
- SRH need to win at least four out of five remaining matches.

Lucknow Super Giants (2nd, 14 Points): KL Rahul & Co jumped to 2nd spot with a 6-run win over Delhi Capitals. They are now in touching distance of the Playoffs. LSG have 14 points in 10 matches. All they need to do now is to win a match out of the remaining 4 to QUALIFY for playoffs.
- Win at least one match out of 4 to qualify.
- If they lose the remaining four badly, their Net Run Rate will take a hit.
- 18-point mark is the safe bet while teams can qualify with 16 points as well.
- LSG can also qualify with 16 points or a win in 4 games but it will depend on other results.
- LSG Remaining matches: KKR, GT, RR, KKR
Royal Challengers Bangalore (6th, 10 Points): Faf du Plessis’ Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have registered 5 wins in 10 matches. However, the three-time finalists have hit a rut with three consecutive losses, the latest coming in the last over against Gujarat Titans. The franchise have made life difficult for themselves and will hope that result go their way in the latter half of the tournament.
- RCB need to win at least 3 matches out of 4 to qualify.
- But the three wins should be with good margins as RCB have a negative Net Run Rate of -0.558.
- Two wins may not be enough for RCB as every loss will decrease the NRR further.
- RCB Remaining Matches: CSK, SRH, PBKS, GT
IPL 2022 Playoff Scenario: PBKS keep hopes alive, GT & LSG on verge of Qualification: Check Where others stand?
Punjab Kings (5th, 10 Points): Punjab Kings needed the win badly to stay alive in the Playoff race and they got it in style against the table-toppers. PBKS are now 5th with 10 points and if they win all 4, they will seal their qualification.

- PBKS can also qualify with 16 points or winning three out of four games but other results will have to go their way.
- The win against GT helped improve their NRR but it is still in the negative at -229.
- PBKS Remaining Matches: RR, RCB, DC, SRH

With 8 points in nine games, DC remained 6th but they will now need to win all their remaining five games to seal the deal. They can also qualify with 16 points but other results will have to go their way.
- DC need to win five matches out of 5 to seal playoff berth.

- DC Remaining matches: SRH, CSK, RR, PBKS, MI

IPL 2022 Playoff Scenario: PBKS keep hopes alive, GT & LSG on verge of Qualification: Check Where others stand?
Chennai Super Kings (9th, 6 Points): MS Dhoni returned to captaincy after Ravindra Jadeja stepped down. The change in the helm helped as CSK returned to winning ways with a 13-run victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Now, CSK will have to win all remaining five games and hope everything else goes their way to keep their faint hope alive.
- CSK need to win all their remaining matches to qualify for Playoffs.
- Even with 16 points, CSK’s way could be tough and win against MI and GT will be crucial.
- CSK Remaining Matches: RCB, DC, MI, GT, RR
Mumbai Indians (10th, 2 Points): Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians (MI) who have won the title 5 times—most in IPL history—are lying at the bottom of the IPL 2022 Points Table. While MI registered their first win of IPL 2022 vs RR, they have already been knocked out of contention following their eight successive losses.
- Even if MI win all of their remaining 5 matches, they will not be able to qualify as they will score only 12.
- The cut-off for 10-team IPL is likely to be 16 with teams on 14 points can also qualify based on NRR.
- MI have a negative NRR of -0.836 and even big wins in the last five won’t be enough.
- MI remaining matches: GT, KKR, CSK, SRH, DC
